The Mérieux have a family tradition and a century-long commitment to the fight against infectious diseases. Marcel Mérieux, who worked with Louis Pasteur and founded the Mérieux Institute, Dr. Charles Mérieux, Alain Mérieux and Dr. Christophe Mérieux have devoted their lives to biology with a goal of improving health worldwide. By creating bioMérieux in 1963, Alain Mérieux, its president, has carried on this family tradition.

Today, bioMérieux has over 5,700 employees. Headquartered in France, the company is present in more than 150 countries through 39 subsidiaries and a large network of distributors. In 2007, revenues reached €1.063 billion with 84% of sales outside of France. bioMérieux is listed on NYSE Euronext Paris.
